Using Dojo Library to Develop Web applications
Development of Dojo was started by Alex Russell and Dylan Schiemann in 2004. The first Dojo code was written in September 2004. Nowadays Dojo has 40 000 downloads and over 40 developers and companies.
The word “Dojo” doesn't really stand for anything. It was the result of a vote. From Alex Russell: Actually, I was uncreative enough to name my last toolkit "netWindows" so this go-round we actually took a vote. Leondard Lin suggested "Dojo", and it won the vote. It doesn't really stand for anything. We're different from closed source vendors because we appropriate random words out of *other* languages ;-)
Dojo bases on the HTML and JavaScript. Developer doesn’t have to use any strange programming language. Developer do not need reinvent wheel when starting programming project.
Developing applications for WebOS2006 open source programming marathon you can use Dojo to write the forntend of your application. You can use it and also prototype, scriptaculous javascript libraries during the development and also provide the link to your sites.
